Time: 10:00 am - 3:00 pm with an optional Potluck Lunch.

Price:  Sliding scale of $40 - $70 per person. Additional donations will be most appreciated.

Facilitators: Bair Richards Koeslag

Blair is a certified permaculture teacher, Chartered herbalist, tree farmer at Goldenbough tree farm (Goldenbough Tree Farm.ca) and wild food enthusiast.

Summary:  We live in a world of Medicine.  Often the plants that are considered the biggest pests are actually the most potent medicine. Prickly ash has been the bane of farmers and the recipient of more than one curse word, but the power of prickle medicine can be deeply protective.  The goal of these herbal offerings is to get acquainted with the plant world around us.  In this workshop, we will spend time in the company of Prickly Ash to observe the ways that it grows, and to look at what the plant tells us with its form.  Aric will lead a ceremony, as making an offering to a plant ally is an age-old tradition that is understood by the fauna of this land.   This will help us to create deeper connections with the land and the medicine that we make together.  We will gather herbal medicine and create a herbal remedy that can become a part of your home apothecary.  The second part of the day will be an in-depth discussion into the herbal constituents and actions of Prickly ash.  You will receive a monograph that you can use as a future resource and that, if you choose to join us for more sessions later on this year, will grow into a herbal reference.  The idea behind these sessions is to use herbs as a way of teaching about connection to the land, deepening relationships with plants, and growing in knowledge that can empower us to care for our own bodies. Hope to see you then.

Logistics: We ask that participants please dress warm, with layers, as we will be outside part of the time, and bring some food either just for yourself or to share in a potluck lunch.
