2017 Seasonal Help Wanted
Earth Haven Farm will be looking for farm help throughout the 2017 growing season running April through October.
We would like to outline 3 very different opportunities and experiences for you - see below
Volunteer your time. Part-time. Ideal for WWOOFer's, Students, and Young Agrarians. Accommodations and meals will be provided.
If you live nearby, you can drop by, lend a hand picking and cleaning vegetables for market and walk away with fresh produce.
Become a farm intern. This is a full-time position running April through October 2017, offering you an opportunity to obtain hands on experience on a working farm while building on your existing knowledge. This is a great opportunity for students or young people that inspire to own and operate their own farm one day.
You will take part in all day to day farm activities and be assigned individual responsibilities. You will be helping out at farmers markets and possibly run your own local farmers market.
Interning is a great opportunity for students working on their Master's Degree to conduct their own research, gain their own experience and learn while working on a thesis project, or published paper.
This is an internship program-partnership that allows you self-direct your internship. It is an opportunity to work on our farm while you pilot your own farm business ideas.
This is a unique full-time internship position designed to bridge the gap between being a farm intern working solely for the benefit of the farm, to a working partnership that allows you to put your own ideas into practice and earn income from those ideas in a low-risk environment, where the land and infrastructure is provided for you.
What is your desire in becoming a farmer?
Would you like to run your own farmers market table and develop your own clients?
Would you like to run a CSA or RSA program?
Would you like to work in our commercial kitchen producing food products such as preserves and fermented foods like sauerkraut or kimchi, etc.
Perhaps you are interested in focusing on permaculture, bees, mushrooms, wild foraging, processing foods, livestock management, or making crafts while interning.
Perhaps you would like to teach and offer workshops through the Earth Haven Learning Centre and share your own knowledge with others.
All things are possible, and Earth Haven Farm is here to help you find your way.
Within this more senior internship program you will take an active part in the production process from selecting seeds, selecting and building plots, setting up irrigation, finding solutions for livestock management, climate change issues, harvesting, food processing and so much more.
Candidates for this position should have a minimum of 1-2 years experience on another farm or reasonable equivalent. A valid drivers license and construction skills are definite assets.
If it is something that we feel would work well with our current farming practices then we have an opportunity for a working relationship. We are open to hearing what your goals and ideas are. We would like to see your proposal in writing, then have a formal face to face (or skype) meeting to determine if there is potential for a working relationship. A signed contract agreement will be required.
